Nokia N95 8gb v30.0.018 firmware Flash Lite screensaver bug

I recently upgraded my N95 8gb to the latest firmware version, v30.0.018. All Flash Lite screensavers are displaying in landscape mode, and there seems to be no way to change them to portrait mode. This was also a problem in a previous firmware update.

SE G705 Flash Lite 2.0 phone supporting Project Capuchin

SonyEricsson has announced its second Project Capuchin phone, the G705. This is a Flash Lite 2.0 phone with the Project Capuchin ActionScript api bridge to enable Flash Lite 2.0 to interact with J2ME supported phone services.

Flash Lite wallpapers discussed in Mobile Entertainment article

Mobile Entertainment magazine web site posted a short article about Flash Lite wallpaper and screensaver content from mobivention that makes use of Sony Ericsson accelerometer to change according to handset rotation. This article mentions the idea of using Flash Lite for clocks, and time/date reactive animation.

AT&T to distribute Nokia 6650

According to allaboutsymbian.com, AT&T will be distributing the Nokia 6650 smart phone. This is significant because the 6650 is a S60 v3 fp2 phone supporting Flash Lite, and also should support Nokia WRT applications. There are few models of s60 phones in the US market, with AT&T being the only network that currently carries the platform.

Archos 5 devices supporting Flash 9, Widgets, games and more…

French manufacturer Archos, has announced its latest generation of PMP devices which they refer to as “Internet media tablets”. These touch screen devices offer a wide range of media playback, entertainment and internet capability through Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity. These devices support Flash 9 in the Opera browser which also supports widget applications.

North America Market Flash Lite device database

For business purposes, I maintain a database of Flash Lite devices sold by network operators in the North American market. I find it useful to keep track of Flash Lite enabled devices for each network, Flash Lite versions and also the Flash Lite implementations generally available in the NA market (both USA and Canada). In addition to the large networks, there are a quite a few small regional GSM operators and some virtual networks that sell Flash Lite phones.

T-mobile developer site listing and supporting Flash Lite

Today, I registered as a developer with the new T-mobile developer site. While going through the registration process I was suprised to find that T-mobile is listing Flash Lite as a technology category, along with Java, mobile web and others. Verizon is the only other NA market carrier that specifically lists and supports Flash Lite from its developer site.

Sony Mylo labs: Netfront widgets and Flash Lite games

I’ve been reading about the Sony Mylo and ran across the Mylo labs web site, which has information on developing content for Mylo. The Sony Mylo is an internet device with Flash Lite 3 integrated into the Netfront 3.4 web browser. The site has forums and documentation which currently focus on creating widget applications for Netfront. There is also some discussion of how to add Flash Lite games to the Mylo. Note that Sony Mylo COM 2 supports Flash Lite and Netfront widgets.
