Best Buy selling Nokia s60 phones with T-mobile contract
According to a news item at Brighthand, Best Buy will soon be selling unlocked Nokia s60 phones with a T-mobile contract. The article mentions Nokia N96 NAM (North American Edition), Nokia N78 NAM, and Nokia E71 NAM, all of which are Flash Lite 3 and Nokia WRT enabled phones.
Best Buy has been pushing hard into the consumer phone sales business over the last year and is set to become an important outlet in the US for consumer phone distribution and tech support. Prices for these phones are subsidized into the contract, which makes the phones more affordable.
Currently, T-mobile does not sell s60 phones and only sells Nokia series 40 from its own stores and web sites. ATT is the only GSM US carrier selling s60 phones, and seems to be limited to selling only two models at a time. Consequently, Nokia had limited outlets for selling s60 phones in the US, which limits the s60 platform’s market share. Enabling T-mobile customers to purchase s60 phones with a contract broadens Nokia’s customer base in the US, in turn bringing more Flash Lite and Nokia WRT enabled s60 phones into the NA market.
