Flash Lite 3 in Internet Explorer 6 Windows Mobile 6.1

Back in March we read the news that Microsoft had licensed Flash Lite 3 for windows mobile, though at that time there was not much information about which version of windows mobile would support Flash Lite 3 and when devices supporting it might come to market. According to an April 1 Microsoft press release, Flash Lite 3 will be part of Internet Explorer 6 for Windows Mobile 6.1.

Flash Lite 2.0: Sound for Nokia S60 and Series 40 Devices

Forum Nokia recently published my article on using sound in Flash Lite 2.0 for S60 and Series 40 devices. This article is specifically about Flash Lite 2.0, and does not address any improvements in sound handling for Flash Lite 2.1 and 3.0. I tested all examples with Nokia 5300 (Series 40) and Nokia 6290 (S60).

Flash Lite device search bookmarklet

I created a javascript bookmarklet to make searching for devices at Forum Nokia and Sony Ericsson Developer World (SEDW) a little easier. Run the bookmarket fill in the device you want to search form and select the manufacturer web site.

QR code experiment at Case Western not working out well

I’ve been following the story of use of QR codes at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, partly because CWRU is in Cleveland, near where I live in Akron Ohio. CWRU is experimenting with using QR codes to students to get campus information and sign up for news feeds. The New York Times has an article about the CWRU QR code test and tries to analyze why students aren’t excited about it.

Forum Nokia Wiki: Build a reusable Flash Lite 1.1 component

I recently posted a tutorial at Forum Nokia wiki, on how to build reusable Flash Lite 1.1 components. I’ve been working on some slide show based screensavers and thought it would be useful to have a reusable slide show component.
