Sony Ericsson, PlayNow app store and GetJar

According to moconews.net Sony Ericsson will be adding an app store capability to PlayNow, which in the past offered entertainment content only. SE will outsource the application distribution to GetJar. Flash Lite developers should be able to distribute Flash Lite content, packaged as java midlets, to SE project capuchin phones through this arrangement.

SE will implement Project Capuchin in Symbian Foundation-based phones

SEDW posted a news item stating that it will be extending support for its Project Capuchin to its future line of Symbian Foundation based phones. Project Capuchin is a system that enables Flash Lite to access device apis through a Java midlet.

Project Capuchin article: Flash Lite and motion sensor api

SEDW recently posted a new article by ustwo on how to use the J2ME motion sensor api to feed motion data to a Flash Lite interface through Project Capuchin. The example demonstrates a user inerface that scrolls through news feeds by tilting the phone.

SE G705 Flash Lite 2.0 phone supporting Project Capuchin

SonyEricsson has announced its second Project Capuchin phone, the G705. This is a Flash Lite 2.0 phone with the Project Capuchin ActionScript api bridge to enable Flash Lite 2.0 to interact with J2ME supported phone services.

SE Themes Creator 3.9 Flash Lite emulator review

Back in July SEDW site released Themes Creator 3.9, which supports Flash Lite 1.1 and 2.x emulation for standby screen screensaver and wallpaper content. Today I downloaded the themes creator to find out what aspects of Flash Lite it can emulate and how it all works.

c905 first Project Capuchin phone

Sony Ericsson recently announced the c905 cyber-shot phone, the first phone supporting SE Project Capuchin. Project Capuchin is a technology that extends a Flash application by enabling the Flash Lite player to access J2ME APIs on SE phones. According to the SEDW documentation, the C905 has Flash Lite 2.0 pre-installed.

SEDW releases Project Capuchin Document

SEDW recently released a new document providing a little more information about Project Capuchin, which extends Flash Lite and J2ME by integrating the two technologies. The new document provides some information about the SWF2JAR application which can package a SWF and J2ME files into an installer Midlet.

Package SWF in themes with SE Themes Creator v3.27

SEDW recently released an updated version of Themes Creator version 3.27. The new version supports bundling Flash Lite SWF files for standby screen content (screensaver/wallpaper) into the actual theme file. Previously it was not possible to bundle SWF inside a SE theme file.

SEDW Survey includes Flash Lite and Adobe Developer

SEDW (Sony Ericsson Developer World) is involved with a mobile developer survey by Recom. The goal of the survey is to assess the effectiveness of information and tools available for mobile developers. The survey includes questions about Flash Lite, SEDW and Adobe Developer.
