Sony Ericsson, PlayNow app store and GetJar

According to moconews.net Sony Ericsson will be adding an app store capability to PlayNow, which in the past offered entertainment content only. SE will outsource the application distribution to GetJar. Flash Lite developers should be able to distribute Flash Lite content, packaged as java midlets, to SE project capuchin phones through this arrangement.

Sony Ericsson recently posted a tutorial on how to create a thumbnail image viewer using project capuchin, with Flash Lite as the interface and Java as the underlying logic for accessing the file system.

SE will implement Project Capuchin in Symbian Foundation-based phones

SEDW posted a news item stating that it will be extending support for its Project Capuchin to its future line of Symbian Foundation based phones. Project Capuchin is a system that enables Flash Lite to access device apis through a Java midlet.

Project Capuchin article: Flash Lite and motion sensor api

SEDW recently posted a new article by ustwo on how to use the J2ME motion sensor api to feed motion data to a Flash Lite interface through Project Capuchin. The example demonstrates a user inerface that scrolls through news feeds by tilting the phone.

SE G705 Flash Lite 2.0 phone supporting Project Capuchin

SonyEricsson has announced its second Project Capuchin phone, the G705. This is a Flash Lite 2.0 phone with the Project Capuchin ActionScript api bridge to enable Flash Lite 2.0 to interact with J2ME supported phone services.
